Brief overview of the role: As a Forest Nursery Educator, you’ll be tasked with providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for the children, in our beautiful outdoor setting. Working flexibly across teams to create an enabling environment where children can develop and learn through play using their existing skills, experience and passion.
Working week: Monday – Friday between 08:00 – 18:00, which are the opening hours of the setting
Total hours per week: 40:00
Weekly wage: £172.00

We follow the core Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, and incorporate learning in a safe and secure outdoor environment, where free play, fresh air, exposure to the natural world and physical activity are an integral part of learning.
Brief description of responsibilities
Adhere to any relevant Policies about Keeping Children Safe, ongoing safeguarding,
Equal Opportunities, Data Protection and Confidentiality
Advise manager/deputy of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
Read, understand, and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
Keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
Ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained.
Care & Education:
Supervise, observe, mentor and support children aged 2-5
Be always responsible for high standards of care and education
Effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members)
Ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers and team members to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.
Keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share them with parents, carers, and other key adults in the child’s life.
Promote the Little Forest Folk and Outdoor Learning ethos
Help maintain equipment and resources
Support all staff and play a key part in keeping team morale high
Be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g., training, monthly staff meetings, and events
Be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as camp related tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.
Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the setting’s philosophy is
Be aware of the high profile of the setting and to always uphold its standards, both in work hours and outside
Due to our nursery being a forest nursery, there are physical demands of this role.
The work is practical by definition and requires physical effort. The work requires moderate levels of physical effort. It involves lifting and handling training equipment, play, equipment, and other resources and being involved in practical activities and physical care of learners and the physical woodland environment.
Activities are out of doors, and this will require walking and managing on uneven surfaces and in unpredictable weather conditions. You are required to be a role model for the staff and learners you work with, adhering to the Health & Safety procedures.
