There’s never been a better time to hire an apprentice.
As lockdown eases and companies start to return to “normal”, it’s a harsh fact that some companies won’t be able to afford to bring all their staff back. Nobody likes to talk about it but unfortunately, we can’t ignore it. The income lost by closing down for 4 months has meant that even the government’s job retention scheme (80% wage) hasn’t protected everybody.
In a bid to further support employers from August to January, any firm that hires a new young apprentice aged 16 to 24 will receive £2,000, while those that hire new apprentices aged 25 and over will be paid £1,500.
The Treasury has since stated these payments will be in addition to the existing £1,000 incentive the government already provides for new 16 to 18-year-old apprentices.
So in a nutshell, these new incentives could give small companies a vital £3000 cash boost to support their continued trading, whilst at the same time, injecting young fresh ideas and talent into your company.
We have applicants from a wide range of backgrounds with interests in almost all sectors, ready and waiting for placements. Get in touch today and our career connect team will support you with your journey to taking on an apprentice.
