About the Employer
My name is Kerry and I started working in childcare 11 years ago after recently moving to the UK from South Africa. I did an apprenticeship through a large nursery where I did all my training then went on to manage the nursery.
Since then I have had my own childcare business from home (Kerry’s Little Berries) where I had an assistant and up to 7 children a day, and my husband and I welcomed our little boy to the world last May.
I have always envisioned having my own childcare setting and I have been looking for a suitable premises for a number of years, I am pleased to say the Saye and Sele Hall in Quainton is worth the wait. Set in a newly refurbished hall, offering a big outdoor space for children to explore I decided to re-name the business to GUMBOOTS AND ROOTS PRESCHOOL: Gumboots are ‘Wellies’. Growing up in South Africa we always referred to them as gumboots.
The word roots has a symbolic meaning of helping children ‘establish roots’ and a strong foundation, and overall the name reflects being outdoors which is something I will incorporate a lot into the Pre-school.
