    Little Forest Folk are an exciting and forward thinking company offering a new type of childcare forfamilies in London. We care for and educate children aged from 2 to 5, following the core Early YearsFoundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, incorporating learning in an outdoor environment where freeplay, fresh air, exposure to the natural world and physical activity are an integral part of learning

    Our aim is to address the increasing disconnect between children and nature by opening a series ofoutdoor children’s nurseries across the capital and beyond. Our first site at Wimbledon is now fully subscribed and is Ofsted rated Outstanding.

    Brief description of responsibilities

    Responsibilities will include:


    • Adhere to any relevant Policies about Keeping Children Safe, ongoing safeguarding,
    • Equal Opportunities, Data Protection and Confidentiality
    • Advise manager/deputy of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary
    • Read, understand, and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting
    • Keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job
    • Ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained

    Care & Education:

    • Supervise, observe, mentor and support children aged 2-5
    • Be always responsible for high standards of care and education
    • Effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interest of children in thesetting are met (in conjunction with other team members)
    • Ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories
    • Develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers and teammembers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs
    • Keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share with parents, carers, and other key adults in the child’s life

    Other Requirements

    • Promote the Little Forest Folk and Outdoor Learning ethos
    • Help maintain equipment and resources
    • Be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g., training, monthly staff meetings, and events
    • Be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties whereneeded, such as camp related tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.
    • Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the setting’s philosophy is
    • Be aware of the high profile of the setting and to always uphold its standards, both in work hoursand outside
    • Due to our nursery being a forest nursery, there are physical demands of this role
    • The work is practical by definition and requires physical effort. The work requires moderate levelsof physical effort. It involves lifting and handling of training equipment, play, equipment, andother resources and to be involved in practical activities and physical care of learners and thephysical woodland environment
    • Activities are mainly out of doors, and this will require walking and managing on uneven surfacesand in unpredictable weather conditions. You are required to be a role model for the staff andlearners you work with, adhering to the Health & Safety procedures
