    Brief description of responsibilities

    • To provide and deliver care and education for children’s individual learning and development needs
    • To support senior staff and colleagues
    • To work with children on a daily basis both indoors and outdoors. (Irrelevant of weather conditions)
    • To be a figure of support, guidance and a good role model to anyone on work placements,apprenticeships, work experience or any volunteers who come into the setting
    • To ensure observations are carried out in order to establish that each individual child’sdevelopment is monitored and to be responsible as a Key-worker
    • To be aware of any harmful or dangerous situation when supervising the children
    • To be aware of each area, checking toys and equipment daily for any potential dangers or hazards and complete relevant daily risk assessments, indoors and outdoors
    • To prepare any snack or food throughout the day, clear away at meal times and supervise childrenduring meal times
    • To respond to each individual child’s needs, for both care and attention and provide a high level of care that enhances the child’s development
    • To report and share any child protection/ safeguarding concern’s that may arise with the room leader
    • To be aware of the settings equality policy, including diversity and difference inclusion and SEND
    • To ensure a flexible presence is in place to communicate with parent’s i.e. daily feedback
    • Attend staff meetings and staff discussions/ group meetings
    • Required to attend training, conferences and meetings when requested by the centre manager to ensure up to date knowledge is held
    • To follow Margaret McMillan Policies and procedures and codes of practice
    • To carry out and perform all duties requested, discussed and directed by the centre manager
    • To be a Key Person. This role is to help ensure that every child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs, to help the child become familiar with the setting, offer a settled relationship for the child and also to build a relationship with their parents
    • To be involved in all aspects of planning and be knowledgeable of children’s development
    • Keep accurate records, profiles and observations of each individual child
    • To assist other members of staff completing tasks that may not be specified in the job description
    • The duties and responsibilities of this job description are not restrictive and the post holder maybe required to undertake any other duties which may be required from time to time that arecommensurate with the post

    • Applicant must be enthusiastic, self motivated, emotionally resilient, have the ability to keepcalm and handle competing demands. Be able to demonstrate professionalism with regards to all issues
    • Have problem solving experience and be able to build a good relationship with parents and colleagues
    • Communicating to different people on different levels, communicating in which ever methods isappropriate to each individual

    • Time management skills, ability to prioritise work in order of importance. Ability to keep accurate records
    • Ability to build a good working relationship with staff, visitors and parents

    Desired qualifications

    • You must have a solid understanding of GCSE in maths and English or equivalent and have ideally attained a Childcare L2 qualification
