    Vacancy description

    Brief description of responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities will include:

    • To be supported in providing a stimulating and varied programme of play and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children aged between 9 months and 2 and a half years old (We are a baby room only)
    • Be able to start using your initiative and come up with ideas to enhance the children’s play and contribute to observations
    • To help to plan, provide and take part in all the group’s activities, including evaluation, with constructive feedback
    • To help prepare and fully set out the playgroup equipment and activities before the children arrive, tidy it up after the children have left and prepare for the next session where applicable
    • To supervise and assist children who are being toilet-trained and change soiled nappies/clothing when requested
    • To provide an up-to-date DBS at the earliest opportunity
    • Attend and keep up-to-date training in First Aid and Child Protection
    • To read the group’s policies and always abide by them
    • To be aware of procedures and responsibility, in accordance with the Local Safeguarding Children Board, for immediately reporting concerns about a child. To attend a course
    • To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is learnt as part of the job
    • To be aware of Fire Drill and emergency evacuation
    • To record and report accurately any incidents involving discipline and Health and Safety of the children
    • To assist with regular observations of children – verbally/written
    • To advise the manager of any matter requiring attention, such as concerns about a child or equipment needing repair or replacement
