    Brief overview of the role: Barkston Ash Nursery are looking for someone to provide a high standard of all areas of learning &developmental care for all children in the nursery, to give support to other team members, to work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can access continuous provision, play, learn and develop.

    Working week: The Nursery is open 08:30 – 15:30, Monday – Friday but there may be some requirement to help in the After School Club, which runs from 15:30 to 18:00. This will be discussed and agreed at the offer stage.

    Welcome to the Barkston Ash Nursery School. We are a friendly village Nursery, which aims to offer enjoyable and stimulating activities and early years education to children aged between 2 and 5years.

    We have been providing outstanding childcare for over 35 years in a friendly community environment. All staff are fully experienced and qualified up to degree level. Our aim is to provide an environment where children enjoy and achieve and where they feel valued, safe and secure.

    Brief description of responsibilities

    Duties include:

    • Making sure all children are safe and treated equally
    • Be involved in activities
    • Work with parents/carers/families as well to help encourage children
    • To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained
    • To effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interest of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members)
    • Following appropriate policies, procedures and systems ensuring the educational, social, physical, emotional, health and welfare needs of the children are always met
    • To become involved in children’s activities to stimulate and extend their learning
    • To demonstrate sensitivity toward children and families within the facility
    • Providing an environment that is safe, stimulating and challenging, ensuring compliance with ‘The Children Act 2004’ and the ‘Childcare Act 2006’
    • Assisting in the admission and induction of new children
    • Assisting in the maintenance of all necessary records to meet internal, E.Y.D.C.P and Ofsted requirements
    • To take an active role in the promotion of excellent health and safety practices
    • To respond effectively to any health and safety issues that may arise, and report any necessary matters
    • To participate in training and meetings as requested by the management
    • Performing any other duties commensurate with the general nature of the position requested by management
