    Vacancy description

    Duties will include:

    • Contributing to the planning and implementation of a programme of educational activities suitable for children aged 0-5 years in conjunction with other staff, ensuring they meet the learning and development, assessment, safeguarding and welfare needs of the
      Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements
    • Undertaking a key worker role for individual children to ensure their individual needs are met
    • Undertaking regular observations and record their assessment for the children they have responsibility for as key person, and incorporate next steps into planning whilst ensuring to track their progress
    • Planning appropriate interventions for individuals or groups of children at risk of a delay in their development
    • Consulting with the children and involve them in the planning of activities
    • Regularly liaising with parents about aspects of their child’s progress and development as the key person on an ongoing basis
    • Communicating both verbally and in writing with parents and other professionals in relation to children’s development and progress through formative and summative assessments
    • Responsibility for completing the progress checks at 2,3 and 4 and related transition documentation for children in their group in line with the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of practice
    • Working in partnership with parents to support the full integration of their children into the Preschool facility and through home learning packages
    • Preparing food for the children and facilitate meal and snack times,ensuring they are a pleasant social experience for the children
    • Working in line with the setting standards to develop good relationships with colleagues, children, parents and other visitors to the setting
    • Ensuring that within the confines of safeguarding that confidentiality is always maintained
    • Awareness of and support the implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures
    • Awareness of and support the implementation of Special Educational Needs and Disability policies and procedures and role they play in implementing these within the setting
    • Assisting the children in their personal care needs and hygiene throughout the day, including toileting, change and clean children when appropriate
    • Ensuring that all equipment is stored correctly and is safe, clean and appropriate for use, reporting any issues to the management
    • Contributing to the self-evaluation and planning process for the setting
    • Conducting day to day operational tasks on behalf of Room Leader in their absence including key holding responsibilities as required to ensure the smooth running of the business
    • Attending relevant meetings to support the development and progress of children for whom they are the key person
    • Supporting the vision and aims of the setting
    • Being the practitioner in the room on a day to day basis to ensure that routines and processes are followed, conflict resolution and support staff where appropriate in fulfilling their duties
    • Overseeing the indoor and outdoor risk assessments are completed and implemented by all staff in the room
