What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding is taking a comprehensive approach that prevents people from any potential source of harm.
Eden Training Solutions has a duty of care to employees and learners. We endeavour to ensure that the well-being, health & safety of employees and learners are a priority at all times.
The Prevent Duty:
All FE providers have a duty to safeguard their learners; Prevent is about safeguarding our learners to keep them both safe and within the law. The Prevent Duty is not about preventing students from having political and religious views and concerns but about supporting them to use those concerns or act on them in non-extremist ways.
‘Extremism’ is defined in the 2011 Prevent strategy as vocal or active opposition to fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. We also include in our definition of extremism calls for the death of members of our armed forces, whether in this country or overseas.
‘Radicalisation’ refers to the process by which a person comes to support terrorism and extremist ideologies associated with terrorist groups.
Eden Training Solutions is committed to supporting vulnerable learners through its safeguarding agenda in order to prevent potential radicalisation.
All organisations and training providers are required to have a designated member of staff, who is assigned to act upon child and vulnerable adult protection concerns.
At Eden Training Solutions this person is called the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) and they are responsible for co-ordinating action within Eden Training Solutions and liaising with other agencies.
For the purposes of the Prevent Duty Eden Training Solutions DSO will also liaise with the appropriate agencies locally around any issues with extremism and/or radicalisation.
